In PhotoSmasher, choose an option from the welcome screen:
In MediaSmasher, right-click in the main view or click 'New' at the top:
- copy a photo from Windows or your browser, then go to SmashMash and click 'Paste'
- drag a photo from a Windows folder into the SmashMash panel
- click 'Import' and select a photo from your local drive
- click 'Blank' to make a blank slide that you can add things to
- click 'Title Screen' to make a title screen with text in it (supported formats: jpg, png, bmp, gif) In PhotoSmasher the edit panel opens when you import a photo
In MediaSmasher double-click a thumbnail to open the edit panel
To add items in the edit panel:
- right-click to paste or import photos
- copy and paste photo sections
- add text and paint (see below)
To make a talking photo: In PhotoSmasher the edit panel opens when you import a photo
In MediaSmasher double-click a photo's thumbnail to open the edit panel
(1) click the microphone icon to open the audio recorder, record some audio, then click 'ok'
(2) drag a select box, or use the lasso tool, to select the lower lip and some of the chin
(3) click the 'Lip Sync' button to make the mouth move automatically
(4) click the 'play' button under the photo to see the mouth follow the audio Tip: use the speed slider to turn male voices into female voices and vice versa Tip: use the volume slider to adjust how well the mouth follows the audio
To make a mouth sync with a pre-recorded song (MediaSmasher only):
(1) in the main panel, import a song by clicking 'New' then 'Import', or right-click then choose 'Import'
(2) in the soundtrack panel, select the song, then click the microphone in the panel's title bar
(3) in the record dialog, select the 'create sync track' option and sing along to the song Tip: the recorded 'sync track' will be silent, so you can sing 'da da da' instead of words
(4) in the main panel, double-click a photo's thumbnail to open the edit panel
(5) drag a select box, or use the lasso tool, to select the lower lip and some of the chin
(6) click the 'Lip Sync' button to make the mouth move automatically
(7) click 'ok' to close the edit panel, then click 'preview' to watch the mouth follow the song
In the MediaSmasher main panel, double-click a video's thumbnail to open the edit panel.
To add a text item:
(1) move the 'play tab' (or play the video) to where you want the text to enter
(2) click the 'T' icon on the left side of the panel
(3) click in the main image area to place the text, then type some text - the icons on the right let you set text style to caption, balloon or plain
- to change the text in a text item, double-click on it
To draw or paint:
(1) move the 'play tab' (or play the video) to where you want the drawing to enter
(2) click the pencil icon or spray can icon on the left side of the panel
(3) drag in the main image area to draw or paint - draw mode remains active until you click outside the image area
- to group multiple items together, select them and click the 'make group' button.
To add an image:
(1) move the 'play tab' (or play the video) to where you want the image to enter
(2) right-click and select 'import' or 'paste', or click the 'paste' icon at the top of the panel
To extract an image:
(1) move the 'play tab' (or play the video) to where you want to copy the image from
(2) drag a box around the region you want to copy
(3) right-click and select 'copy', or click the 'copy' icon at the top of the panel
To copy the video clip:
(1) click the main area of the video to make sure nothing else is selected
(2) right-click and select 'copy', or click the 'copy' icon at the top of the panel
(3) you can now paste the video clip onto an image or another video (or onto itself) Tip: items added to a video will start at the current play position and stop a few seconds later;
to change these times, mouse over the 'hand' icon in the upper right of the editor and adjust the sliders
